Question : NHs in Gujarat

(a) the details of National Highway Projects implemented in Gujarat by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) during the last three years;

(b) the details of existing National Highways (NHs) including six lane and details of highways widening/converted into six/eight lane during the last three years in Gujarat;

(c) whether there is any proposal to widen NH No. 8-E and NH No. 8-D to six lane:

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the time by which the work on this project is likely to be started and completed along with the funds allocated for this purpose?

(a) The details of National highway projects implemented in Gujarat by the National Highway Authority of India(NHAI) during the last three years are enclosed at Annexure-I.

(b) The details of existing National Highways (NHs) is enclosed at Annexure-II. The Highways converted to 6 lane in the last 3 years are (i) Ahmedabad-Vadodara section of NH-8; (ii) Surat-Dahisar section of NH-8 and (iii) Samakhiyali-Gandhidham section of NH-8A.

(c) & (d) No Madam.

NH-8D is at present 4 laned. Regarding NH-8E, Bhavnagar to Veraval section is awarded for 4 laning. Further, Gadu to Dwarka section of NH-8E (Extension) is proposed to be widened to a combination of 2 lane with paved shoulder & 4 lane.

(e) The work of Bhavnagar to Veraval section of NH-8E is likely to start by Dec 2016 with construction period of 30 months. The total construction cost of this project is Rs. 4912.74 Cr..
