(a) to (c) In order to provide for control of land within the National Highways, right of way and traffic moving on the National Highways and for removal of unauthorized occupation of the land within the National Highways, the Government has enacted the Control of National Highways (Land and Traffic) Act, 2002. Under the provisions of section 3 of the aforesaid Act, Highway Administrations have been established, consisting of the Regional Officers of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, to exercise powers and discharge functions conferred on them under the Act in respect of the entire stretches of all National Highways throughout the country.
