THE MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) FOR SKILL DEVELOPMENT, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS (SHRI SARBANANDA SONOWAL)
(a) Madam, for the year 2014, Govt. has given annual recognition to 54 National Sports Federations (NSFs) out of which 23 sports bodies are concerned with Olympic Games. The details of such sports bodies are given in Annexure-I.
(b) Yes, Madam. The details of financial assistance provided to the NSFs and the IOA during the last three years is given in Annexure-II.
(c) Government of India has framed a National Sports Development Code (NSDC) of India, 2011, effective from 31/1/2011 to bring in transparency and accountability in the functioning of various NSFs for healthy development of sports and to make it free from politics in the country. The NSFs are required to comply with the various provisions of NSDC for getting various concessions and financial assistance from the Govt. viz. follow Guidelines on Good governance in the context of ‘Basic Universal Principles of Good Governance of Olympic and Sports Movement’; follow proper, democratic and healthy management practices which provide for greater accountability and transparency at all levels; adhere to age and duration of tenure limits of office-bearers; take measure against age fraud in Sports; comply with the provisions of Right to Information Act etc.
