a) whether the Government has received any proposal from Lakshadweep Administration for dredging /widening of navigational channel to Kadmat island and construction of additional berths at Androth island;
b) if so, the details and the present status thereof; and
c) the other steps taken/being taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) Yes, Madam. A proposal has been received from Lakshadweep Administration for dredging/widening of navigational channel at Kadmat island and also for the extension of existing wharf at Androth island.
(b)&(c):The proposal for dredging/widening of navigational channel at Kadmat, has not received the Environmental Clearance (EC) by the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change (MoEFCC), as the dredging/widening of navigational channel may adversely impact the eco system and irreversibly damage the coral reef.
The Lakshadweep Administration has awarded a project to ALHW for the extension of existing wharf at Androth by 40 meters. Andaman Lakshadweep Harbour Works has submitted the proposal for Environment Clearance to MoEFCC on 1.7.2015. The bid for the project has been issued by ALHW on 23.7.2015.
