Question : TRANSFORMERS INSTALLED BY PGCIL



(a) whether 16 KV, 20 KV and 25 KV transformers installed by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) in most of the villages of Rohtas, Kaimur, Madhubani, and Darbhanga districts of Bihar and Banda and Chitrakoot districts of Uttar Pradesh under Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojana have been burnt down and if so, the details thereof, State-wise including number of transformers burnt down and the time since when they are in that condition;

(b) whether the said agency has left the wiring work for power supply incomplete in the houses of BPL families in hundreds of villages in the said districts;

(c) if so, whether the Government proposes to replace the burnt transformers in the said villages and complete the incomplete work of wiring in BPL households;

(d) if so, the details thereof and the time frame for the same, State-wise;

(e) if not, the reasons therefor; and

(f) whether any action is being taken on officers responsible for delays in this regard and if so, the details thereof?

(a) : As per information furnished by the North Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd. (NBPDCL), Bihar and the Rural Electrification Corporation, the nodal agency for implementation of RGGVY Programme, the details of transformers installed/defective/burnt in districts of Darbhanga, Madhubani, Rohtas & Kaimur of

Bihar and Banda and Chitrakoot districts of Uttar Pradesh, are as under:

(b) : As informed by NBPDCL, all the free electricity connections to BPL households have been completed by PGCIL as per the scope of the work.

(c) to (f) : Once the infrastructure installed is taken over by the State Power Utility, it is the responsibility of the State Power Utility to repair/replace the burnt transformers. However, prior to taking over by the State Power Utility, the burnt transformers are replaced by the contractor.
