Question : Pharm D as an Elective Subject

(a) keeping in view the academic and employment importance accorded to Degree holders of Pharm D course, whether the Ministry plans to amend the list of elective subjects for the UPSC Civil Services Examination to include Pharm ‘D’ Course contents as an Elective Optional Subject;
(b) whether the Ministry is aware that such a course will prove highly beneficial for the Indian Forest Service Officers and if so, the reaction of the Government thereto;
(c) if so, the time by when a final decision would be taken in this regard, especially considering the fact that the first paper of the Elective Subjects on Medicine is almost similar to that of syllabus of Pharm ‘D’ Curriculum; and
(d) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (d): There is no such proposal under the consideration of the Government at present. Further it is informed that the Indian Forest Service Officers are recruited through a separate examination i.e. Indian Forest Service Examination, the rules of which are notified by respective Cadre Controlling Authority. They are not recruited through the Combined Civil Services Examination.
