(b) the comparative figures of expenditure on education in the country as compared to other countries, each separately?

(a) & (b) : As per the data available with the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, the Government Expenditure on Education and as percentage of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) during the last three years is as under:

Similar data for other countries is not being maintained by this Ministry. However, as per the latest figures available on the website of UNESCO Institute of Statistics (UIS) (www.uis.unesco.org), Government expenditure on education as percentage of Gross Domestic Product in some of other countries are U.S.A.(5.2%), U.K.(5.8%), Japan (3.8%), Australia (4.9%), Russian Federation (4.1%), Egypt (3.8%), Azerbaijan (2.4%), Georgia (2.0%), Tajikistan (4.0%), Hong Kong SAR of China (3.76 %), Thailand (4.9%), Peru (3.3%), Jamaica (6.2%), Pakistan (2.5%), Bangladesh (1.9%), Ethiopia (4.7%), United Republic of Tanzania (4.6%), Brazil (6.3%), South Africa (6.0%) and Zambia (2.0%).
