Question : HEALTH SCHEME FOR CHILDREN



(a) whether Government propose to introduce Health Schemes for children particularly for school-going children of poor families;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the time by which these schemes are likely to come into operation?

(a)to(c) Under the Reproductive and Child Health Programme interventions are provided for children under the age of five years. These include immunization against six vaccine preventable diseases; facilities for appropriate management of acute respiratory infections and diarrhoeal diseases; provision of essential new born care; and prophylaxis against vitamin `A` deficiency and iron deficiency anemia.

There is no provision in the 9th Five Year Plan for providing free medical services in schools.
