(a) whether the Government has initiated any steps to provide land and work for
the jobless tribals of the Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) if not, the schemes existing for the welfare of the tribals of the country,
especially in Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal?

(a) to (c) This Ministry has no specific scheme as such exclusively for providing
land and work for the jobless tribals of Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The Ministry
of Tribal Affairs, however, implements several Central Sector/Centrally Sponsored
Schemes/Programmes for the overall socio-economic development of tribals in all the
States/Union Territories, including Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The details of
these schemes are available in the Ministry`s Annual Report for 2003-04. These
schemes help the tribal people in enhancement of their human development indices,
including infrastructure development in tribal areas.
