Question : G-20 Conference

Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has attended G-20 countries conference held in the recent past;

(b) if so, the details in this regard along with the issues raised during the said conference;

(c) the details of the issues on which there have been consensus among the various participant countries;

(d) whether Indian leaders have held one to one discussion with leaders of other participant countries; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and the issues discussed with various such leaders?

(a) to (c) The G20 Hamburg Summit was held on 7-8 July 2017. The Prime Minister led the Indian delegation to the Summit. The issues on the agenda of the G20 Summit included partnership with Africa and tackling of common global challenges including terrorism, displacement, poverty, hunger and health threats, job creation, climate change, energy security and inequality including gender inequality, as a basis for sustainable development and stability. The G20 Leaders Declaration and The Hamburg G20 Leaders'' Statement on Countering Terrorism were issued at the Summit.

(d) & (e) The Prime Minister met the leaders present during the G20 Summit at Hamburg on different occasions during the Summit. He also held bilateral meetings with Leaders from the delegations of Japan, Canada, South Korea, Italy, Norway, Senegal, Guinea, Argentina, Vietnam, Mexico and United Kingdom. Issues of mutual interest including the areas covered during the Summit were discussed between the Leaders.
