Question : LOK JUMBISH AND SHIKSHA KARMI PROJECT



(a) Whether an innovative project called “Lok Jumbish” (Peoples Movement for Education for All) and Shiksha Karmi Project was undertaken in Rajasthan;

(b) If so, the objectives and achievements of the project;

(c) whether the Government propose to extend similar projects in other States to achieve elementary education in the country; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a & b) The Lok Jumbish and Shiksha Karmi Projects in Rajasthan aim to achieve Universalisation of Elementary Education. The Projects have been successful in enhancing enrolment and retention of children in primary schools as also in invigorating dysfunctional schools in remote and in-accessible areas through innovative interventions such as Micro Planning, School Mapping, Prehar Pathshalas (schools of convenient timings), Sahaj Shiksha and community participation.

(c & d) The successful interventions of Lok Jumbish and Shiksha Karmi Projects have been incorporated into Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan which is being launched throughout the country for achieving Universalisation of Elementary Education in a time bound manner.
