MINISTER OF SMALL SCALE INDUSTRIES & AGRO AND RURAL INDUSTRIES (SHRI MAHABIR PRASAD)
(a): Under the relevant provisions of the Khadi and Village
Industries Commission Act, 1956 (as amended to date), the Khadi
and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) consists of the following
13 members appointed by the Central Government, namely:
(1) six non-official members having specialised knowledge and not
less than ten years of experience of khadi or village industries
and representing the prescribed six geographical zones of the
country;
(2) four non-official members of whom each member to be from the
following disciplines, namely:-
(i) one member having expert knowledge and experience in Science
and Technology;
(ii) one member having expert knowledge and experience in
Marketing;
(iii) one member having expert knowledge and experience in Rural
Development; and
(iv) one member having expert knowledge and experience in
Technical Education and Training;
(3) Managing Director as may be nominated by the Chairman of the
State Bank of India - who is an ex-officio member;
(4) Chief Executive Officer, KVIC who is an ex-officio member;
and
(5) Financial Adviser, KVIC who is an ex-officio member.
(b): There are 10 non-official members and 3 ex-officio members.
(c): All members of the Commission are in position.
(d): The performance of khadi and village industries (KVI) has
shown marked improvement during the last two years. The details
of growth in the value of production and sales of the KVI sector
as well as employment, during each of the last three years are
given below:
