STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (c) OF UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3551 BY SHRI GANGA RAJU TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 15.12.2014 REGARDING NORTH EAST TRAIN TOURS.
(a): Rail connectivity already exists for capital cities of Assam (Guwahati), Tripura (Agartala) and Arunachal Pradesh (Itanagar). To provide connectivity to capitals of Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland and Mizoram, following new line projects have been taken up:

#Sivok-Rangpo New Line has been taken up to connect Sikkim but the proposal to extend this line upto its capital i.e Gangtok has not been taken up.
(b) & (c): Concessions are already admissible to students as per Rule in regular train services. Besides, instructions have been issued to grant 10% additional concession in the base fare of second and sleeper class to eligible students in special trains/coaches booked by Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) on Full Tariff Rates (FTR) from any part of the country to the North Eastern States including New Jalpaiguri. Moreover, from 18th to 20th December, 2014, Indian Railways has proposed to run a train requisitioned on Full Traffic Rates (FTR) chartered by Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) for the students and teachers of Delhi University between Delhi and Kamakhya (Guwahati) of Assam state.
