Question : PROCUREMENT OF WHEAT



(a) whether the Government propose to introduce a separate procurement policy for the superior durum wheat comparable with the best variety in the world;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) if not, the incentive as proposed for international trading of this variety?

(a) & (b) : No, Sir. There is no such proposal with the Government. As per policy of procurement of the Government, the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and the State Agencies procure wheat as per Fair Average Quality specifications at the Minimum Support Price. There are no separate grades of wheat, and no differential prices. All varieties/grades conforming to the specifications are procured by the Food Corporation of India/State at Minimum Support Price.

(c) There is no such proposal at present.
