(a) whether existing Loco running staff are required to put extra hours of work leading to fatigue bearing an adverse impact on safety of passengers in the railways particularly in South Eastern Railway; and
(b) if so, the reasons thereof and reaction of the Government in this regard ?

(a): No Sir. Running Staff working passenger trains are rostered as per crew links in which all statutory provisions of rest and working hours are complied with.
However, Running Staff may have to work beyond the duty hours stipulated in the link in exceptional exigencies of accidents, floods, agitation, equipment failures, etc. only.
Duty hours of Loco Running Staff of entire Railways are monitored constantly.
