Question : Awareness Campaign on Soil Health

(a) whether the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) is under implementation to provide financial assistance to States to impart training to farmers on balanced use of fertilizers to improve soil health and issue soil health cards in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the funds allocated and utilised for the purpose during each of the last three years and the current year, State/UT and component-wise;

(c) the number of beneficiaries of such trainings under the NMSA during the said period, State-wise;

(d) whether the Government proposes to launch awareness campaigns to popularise soil health management amongst the farmers in the country; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and steps taken/being taken by the Government in this regard?

(a): Yes, Madam. Financial assistance to States is provided to impart training to farmers on balanced use of fertilizers under Soil Health Card (SHC) and Soil Health Management (SHM) Schemes of National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA).

(b) & (c): The States/UT-wise funds allocation, utilization and number of beneficiaries under SHC since its inception year 2015-16 and under SHM for the last three years and the current year are given at Annexure I & II respectively.

(d) & (e): Government has launched awareness campaign to popularize soil health management amongst the farmers in the country through print advertisements, TV sports, radio jingles, organization of World Soil Day, workshops etc.
