Question : RELAXATION IN NORMS UNDER MGNREGS



(a) whether the Government has decided to relax the norms under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) for recently natural calamity-hit States and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Government proposes to bear the additional cost of employment in the recent natural calamity-hit States, if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;

(c) whether the Government has also decided to release advance instalments of funds to the affected States which do not meet the mandatory condition of utilizing 60 per cent of the total available funds; and

(d) if so, the details thereof along with the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a)&(b): No Madam. The current provision of hundred days of work is available to be used by the households affected by adverse weather conditions.

(c)&(d): No, Madam. Funds are released to the States/UTs on the basis of agreed to Labour Budgets and taking into consideration the performance and the pace of utilization of available funds.
