Question : AGRICULTURAL LAND



(a) whether a vast area of agricultural land is yet to be made cultivable in Goa;

(b) if so, the details thereof alongwith the financial assistance provided by the Union Government for the above purpose; and

(c) the total area of agricultural land brought under cultivation in Goa with Union Government assistance?

(a)to(c) Yes, Sir. There is about 55,680 ha. of agricultural land which need to be developed for agriculture purposes in the State of Goa. Uptil now an area of about 19,138 ha. has been brought under cultivation with the financial assistance of Rs.1251 lakhs released by the Government of India under the following programmes namely

i) package programme for Development of Cashew	ii) Integrated Development of Tropical and Arid Zone fruits	iii) National Watershed Development Programme for Rainfed Areas and	iv) Western Ghat Development Programme.
