(a) whether the Government has finalized the new textile policy;
(b) if so, the details and the salient features thereof;
(c) the target of textile export and the number of new employment opportunities likely to be generated as a result thereof; and
(d) the time by which the said policy is likely to be announced and implemented by the government?

(a) to (d): An Expert Committee was constituted under the chairpersonship of Shri Ajay Shankar, Member Secretary, National Manufacturing Competiveness Council (NMCC) to formulate a new National Textile Policy. The Expert Committee submitted the final Vision, Strategy and Action Plan for the Indian Textile and Apparel sector on 13.12.2014. Based on the said document, the Ministry initiated a process of consultation with the various stakeholders including the industry associations and Export Promotion Councils and State Governments. The comments on the Draft COS Note on New National Textile Policy have since been received from various ministries and are under examination.
