Question : Review of Energy Policy

(a) whether the Government is contemplating to review the energy policy in order to make power made of new and renewable energy sources more popular;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the steps taken by the Government to make new and renewable energy more popular in backward region particularly in remote village of Bundelkhand and hilly areas?

(a) & (b): Yes Madam. The NITI Aayog has placed the draft National Energy Policy (NEP) in the public domain for comments. The draft NEP lays emphasis, inter-alia, for increasing share of renewable energy in the energy mix including through better grid integration of renewable electricity.

(c): Steps taken for increasing deployment of renewable energy in remote and hilly regions include fiscal and financial incentives for grid connected as well as off-grid and decentralized renewable energy systems, support for setting up solar parks, loans for renewable energy projects under priority sector.
