Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT
(SHRI KRISHANPAL GURJAR)

(a) to (c) : This Ministry has requested the Department of Revenue to consider waiving off Income Tax for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) who are 80 years or above keeping in view their increased cost of living due to enhanced cost of medication, therapeutic/ rehabilitation services, caregiver support, transportation etc. So far as senior citizens are concerned, Income Tax benefits are available to them and as such this Ministry does not propose to write to Finance Department to waive off income tax for senior citizens over 80 years of age in the country.
