Question : FUNDS FOR AGRICULTURE AND INFRASTRUCTURE



(a) whether the Government propose to provide more funds for agriculture and infrastructure during the current year;

(b) if so, whether any programme in this regard have been formulated; and

(c) the extent to which it is likely to give a boost to agriculture and also other infrastructure activities?

(a) to(c): The Central Plan Outlays for 2001-02 for all Ministries/ Departments, including Agriculture and Infrastructure sectors have already been finalised and indicated in the Expenditure Budget –Vol.-I and II, 2001-02. However, the Ministry of Finance has agreed to post-budget additionalities, of over Rs. 3600 crore, in infrastructure sectors including Railways, Urban Development, Power and Surface Transport, with a view to expediting work on identified ongoing projects.
