Question : Bharatmala Pariyojana

(a) whether the Government proposes to start Bharatmala Pariyojana 2.0 to construct more than 3,000 kms. of highways in the country and if so, the details thereof;

(b) the details of stretch identified in the State of Odisha under Bharatmala 2.0; and

(c) whether the Government of Odisha and Bihar have requested for taking up some important stretches under Bharatmala/National Highways Development Project and if so, the details and the present status thereof?

(a) No such scheme as Bharatmala 2.0 has been approved by the Government of India till date.

(b) Does not arise.

(c) The Government of India approved the implementation of Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I in October, 2017 with an estimated outlay of Rs. 5,35,000 Crore for development of 34,800 km length of National Highways (including 10,000 km residual NHDP road works) in the entire country. Under this program, 14 road projects with aggregate length of about 716 km for a total cost of Rs. 11,101.46 Crore have been approved for the State of Odisha and seven projects with aggregate length of about 472 km for a total cost of Rs.10,540.01 Crore have been approved for the State of Bihar, till October, 2019.
