(a),(b)&(c): The Electricity Act, 2003 mandates the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) to determine tariffs including transmission tariffs. The CERC ( vide Sharing of Inter State Transmission Charges and Losses) (Third Amendment) Regulations, 2015 has notified that no transmission charges for the use of Inter State Transmission Systems (ISTS) network shall be charged to solar based generation for the useful life of the projects commissioned upto 30.6.2017. In addition, these regulations have also specified that no transmission losses for the use of ISTS network shall be attributed to solar based generation for the useful life of the projects commissioned up to 30.6.2017. However, these charges would be socialized among all Designated ISTS Customers (DICs). Further, the Tariff Policy is amended on 28.01.2016 in which it is stated that “In order to further encourage renewable sources of energy, no inter-State transmission charges and losses may be levied till such period as may be notified by the Central Government on transmission of the electricity generated from solar and wind sources of energy through the inter-state transmission system for sale.”
