Question : DEVELOPMENT OF CITIES



(a) the details of the schemes being implemented by the Government to provide assistance to the States for urban development and improving the facilities for drinking water, drainage/sewerage and waste management;

(b) the details of proposals/projects received by the Government from various States under these schemes during the last three years and the current year, project, year, city and State-wise;

(c) the number of proposals/projects cleared and the funds sanctioned/released during the above-mentioned period, project, year, city and State-wise along with the implementation status of the projects; and

(d) the number of proposals pending/declined, project, city and State-wise and the reasons therefor along with the time by which the pending proposals are likely to be cleared?

(a): The Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) supplements the efforts of State Governments/ Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in urban development including urban water supply and sanitation/ drainage system through schemes viz. Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM - UIG & UIDSSMT components), 10% Lumpsum Scheme for North Eastern States, North Eastern Region Urban Development Programme (NERUDP) and Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Satellite towns/Counter Magnets of Million plus cities (UIDSST).

(b to d): State wise details of projects sanctioned/funds released under the schemes during the last three years and current year are enclosed as Annexure. JnNURM has come to an end on 31.03.2014 and as such, no projects are pending with the Ministry under the scheme.
