Question : RECORD OF FREEDOM FIGHTERS AT NATIONAL ARCHIVES



(a) whether the National Archives of India fails to preserve and provide information on records of freedom struggles and freedom fighters from 1857 onwards to RTI activists under RTI Act;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the present condition of the documents;

(c) the details of the information sought by the RTI activist from National Archives;

(d) whether some officials of the National Archives has deliberately attempted to tamper the records; and

(e) if so, the details thereof along with the action taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (c) National Archives of India provides access to its holdings under the provisions of the Public Record Act, 1993 and Public Record Rule, 1997. All the records are pre- served and kept in good condition.
