Question : NIGHT LANDING FACILITIES AT AIRPORTS



(a) whether the Government has proposed to provide night landing facilities at all airport in the country including Karnataka;

(b) if so,the details thereof and the amount sanctioned to meet the purpose; and

(c) the current status of the proposal alongwith the time by which night landing facilities are likely to be provided at all the airports?

(a) & (b): The aeronautical ground lighting facilities for all weather operation are being provided at all operational airports (which will also facilitate night operation). However, night operations at airports are permitted only with approval of DGCA. In case of Karnataka, aeronautical ground lights are provided and night operation are permitted at Banglore HAL airport, Banglore International airport, Mangalore airport and Hubli airport. Aeronautical ground lights are also provided at Belgaum and Mysore airports. In the year 2010-11 the sanctioned budget is Rs. 15.00 crores for upgradation of ground lighting/safety facilities.

(c): Not applicable in view of the above.
