Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE (SHRI KANTI LAL BHURIA)

(a): The funds released to Metro Dairy Kolkata are as under:-

Loan:-	Rs.33.86 crores	Grant:-	Rs.14.48 crores

(b): Metro Dairy Kolkata was a Joint Venture Company formed between West Bengal Milk Federation, NDDB and Keventer Agro Ltd – a private company. NDDB felt that in the liberalized environment, the arrangement made in Metro Dairy would be treated as a precedent by other State Dairy Federations to form Joint Venture with private companies to seek financial assistance from NDDB. It was therefore decided to sell the share of NDDB in the Metro Dairy.

(c)to(e): NDDB sold its share to a financial institution in accordance with the provisions of the share holders’ agreement.
