Question : Schemes for Welfare of Youth

(a) whether the Government is running any schemes for the welfare of youth in the country;

(b) if so, the details of the major schemes run by the Government;

(c) whether the Government is providing financial assistance for promotion of sports activities in the State of Maharashtra; and

(d) if so, the details thereof including the schemes and the funds provided during the last three years and current year?

(a) & (b): Yes, Sir. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports implements the following three major Schemes for the welfare of youth in the country: -
1. RashtriyaYuvaSashaktikaranKaryakram (RYSK) consisting of seven sub schemes namely:
(i) Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS)
(ii) National Youth Corps
(iii) National Programme for Youth & Adolescent Development
(iv) International Cooperation
(v) Youth Hostels
(vi) Assistance to Scouting & Guiding Organisations
(vii) National Young Leaders Programme

2. National Service Scheme (NSS)

3. Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD).

(c) & (d): Yes, Sir. Under the component of “Utilization and Creation of Sports Infrastructure” of the Khelo India Scheme, 13 sports infrastructure projects amounting to Rs.110.80 crore have been sanctioned in Maharashtra from 2016-17 to 2022-23 which cater to all categories of citizens, including youth.
Funds are allocated by this Ministry Scheme-wise, not State-wise. Details of funds released under the Khelo India Scheme during last 3 years and current year is given below: -
