Question : Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) Exam

(a) whether the Government has taken note that many candidates particularly female candidates were unable to appear for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) Examination 2020 due to lack of examination infrastructure/test centres in hilly areas of the country;
(b) if so, the number of such candidates, gender wise, State/UT-wise;
(c) whether the Government has proposed to set up at least one test centre in every district for the purpose;
(d) if so, the details thereof along with the time by which the said provision is likely to be made; and
(e) the measures being taken by the Government to increase the said test centres in each district of the country particularly in hilly areas?

(a) and (b): The number of female candidates appeared in last Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) examination held on 31st January 2021 are more than male candidates in various states comprising hilly areas of the country. The information regarding number of candidates gender-wise, in the various states comprising hilly areas of the country is placed at Annexure-I.
(c) to (e): The sanctity of examination, number of candidates appearing, logistics issues and feasibility of conduct of examination is kept in mind for setting up the examination centres for CTET examination. Last CTET examination on 31st January 2021 was conducted at 3938 examination centres in 135 cities across the country. The list of cities of examination in the various states comprising hilly areas of the country is placed at Annexure-II.
