Question : Criteria for Establishment of New Janaushadhi Kendras

Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has fixed criteria to sanction and approve the establishment of new Janaushadhi Kendras in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the number of Janaushadhi Kendras functioning in the country, State/UT wise, including Telangana, district wise;
(d) whether the Government intends to increase the number of Janaushadhi Kendras and provide incentives for establishing such new Kendras; and
(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) and (b): As per guidelines of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), any individual having D. Pharma/B. Pharma degree or any individual/organization who has employed D. Pharma/B. Pharma degree holder for getting drug licenses from the concerned State Government, is eligible to open Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra (PMBJK) provided it fulfill the following requirements:
(i) Minimum 120 sq. ft. space, duly supported by proper documents;
(ii) Registration details of the pharmacist with State Pharmacy Council; and
(iii) Applicants under the category of women entrepreneurs, divyang, SC and ST have to submit certificate/proof from respective authorities along with the undertaking.

(c): As on 28.11.2021, about 8533 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) are open across the country, covering all districts in the States/Union Territories in the country. Out of these, 157 PMBJKs are open in the State of Telangana. State/UT-wise list of PMBJKs is enclosed as Annexure-I and the district-wise list for the State of Telangana State is enclosed as Annexure-II respectively.
(d) & (e): Government has set a target to open about 10,500 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) by March 2025, across the country. The details of incentives provided under the scheme for the purpose are as under:

Normal Incentive: The Kendras run by entrepreneurs of any class that are linked with PMBI through software get incentives up to Rs. 5.00 Lakh. The incentive is given @ 15% of monthly purchase made from PMBI by these Kendra subject to a ceiling of Rs. 15,000/- per month up to a total limit of Rs. 5.00 Lakh.

Additional Incentive: The Kendras opened in backward areas mentioned as aspirational districts by NITI Aayog & in Himalayan, Island territories and the North-Eastern States and Kendras run by women entrepreneurs, Divyang, SC & ST get an amount of Rs. 2.00 lakh in addition to normal incentives for reimbursement of furniture & fixtures and computer, etc.
