(a) whether the mapping of resources in the remote and inaccessible areas of the country is being done through satellites by using remote sensing technology;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the action taken by the Government in this regard, particularly to ensure safety and security of the country?

(a) Yes, Sir.
(b) Mapping of natural resources addressing areas such as forestry; land use/ land cover; water
resources; snow and glacier; are carried out using satellite remote sensing techniques.
These studies are carried out for remote as well as inaccessible areas of the country also.
(c) The maps and findings of these studies are being utilized by the Government for planning purposes.
The Remote Sensing Data Policy of Government of India empowers the Government to impose
restrictions over distribution of remote sensing data to ensure safety and security of the country.
