Question : Urea Plants

Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state:

(a) the number of urea plants in the country along with the capacity thereof;

(b) the contribution of the urea plants to the total consumption in the country;

(c) the capacity of the urea plants specified by the Government;

(d) whether the Government has detected any discrepancy in the functioning of any plant so far and if so, the action taken in this regard; and

(e) whether the Government has made any provision to make farmers aware of the importance of NPK in urea and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (c): There are 30 urea plants in country and their Reassessed Capacity specified by the Government is 207.54 LMT. The contribution of the urea plants to the total consumption of urea in the country is given below :

(e) : The Government of India is promoting the balanced use of fertilizers and has introduced Soil Health Card (SHC) Scheme with an aim to assist all State Governments to evaluate fertility in all farm holding across the country and issue soil health cards to farmers regularly in a cycle of 2 years. Soil Health Card provides information to farmers on nutrient status of their soil along with recommendations on appropriate dosage on nutrient and fertilizers including urea to be applied for improving soil health and its fertility.
