Question : INCREASE OF VEGETATION IN MP



(a) whether the Government of Madhya Pradesh has sent a proposal to the Union Government to increase vegetation cover in western Madhya Pradesh;

(b) if so,the details thereof; and

(c) the time by which the said proposal is likely to be sanctioned and the required funds are likely to be released?

(a), (b) and (c) A proposal for greening of western Madhya Pradesh covering the districts of Dhar; Jhabua, Ratlam and Khandwa was received from Government of Madhya Pradesh. Under the National Afforestation Programme (NAP) Scheme of the Ministry of Environment and Forests which is being implemented through a two-tier decentralized structure of Forest Development Agency (FDA) at the forest division level and Joint Forest Management Committees (JFMCs) at the village level, FDA projects of Jhabua and Dhar forest divisions covering project area of 3200 ha have been approved at a total cost of Rs. 5.25 Crore. An amount of Rs.3.20 Crore has been released so far. The FDA project proposals of Ratlam and Khandwa have not been received in the Ministry so far.
