Question : Widening of NHs in Uttarakhand

(a) the details of the single-lane National Highways (NHs) in Uttarakhand;

(b) whether the Government proposes to develop/widen these single-lane NHs to two, four and six lane highways;

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) the funds released for the purpose during each of the last three years?

(a) The total length of single lane National Highways in Uttarakhand is 1843 km.

(b) The development/widening of a section of National Highway is a continuous process and is carried out based on requirement of traffic plying on road, inter-se-priority and availability of funds.

(c)&(d) At present widening of National Highways in Uttarakhand to two& four lanes is being done in 788 km & 338 km respectively. There is no proposal to widen a NH to six lane in the State. The details of funds released for this purpose during last 3 years is at Annexure- A.
