Question : Affordable Housing

Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN POVERTY ALLEVIATION be pleased to state:

(a) the cities selected under Phase1 of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for construction of affordable houses, State-wise;

(b) whether the target of finalising 100 cities to be covered under Phase 1 has been met;

(c) if so, the number of houses constructed or under construction in the first phase of the scheme;

(d) whether the Government is maintaining specific quality standards for the construction of the houses and if so, the details thereof; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor and the corrective action taken in this regard?

STATEMENT

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 145* FOR 04.05.2016 REGARDING “AFFORDABLE HOUSING”

(a) & (b): As on 25.04.2016, total 2508 cities of 26 States have been identified and selected for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Housing for All (Urban) Mission. State-wise list of 2508 cities/towns is at Annexure-1.

(c): Details of houses constructed under PMAY(U) mission are at Annexure-2.
(d) & (e): As per the scheme guidelines, the houses under the PMAY (U) mission should be designed and constructed to meet the requirement of structural safety against earthquakes, flood, cyclone, landslide etc. confirming to the National Building Code and other relevant Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) codes.
The mission also includes a Technology Sub-Mission to facilitate State / City Governments to adopt modern, innovative and green technologies for adoption of layout designs and building plans suitable for various geo-climatic zones and to deploy disaster resistant and environment friendly technologies.
