Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF DEFENCE

(SHRI GEORGE FERNANDES)

(a) to (c): A statement is laid on the Table of the House.

There are no confirmed reports about the building of underground shelters for aircraft and elongation of airbases in the northern areas by Pakistan. Though the said newsreport has not referred to the training of Pakistani troops in high altitude warfare, such training is an on-going process. No abnormal activity has been noticed in this regard. All developments having a bearing on India`s national security are constantly monitored and necessary steps are taken from time to time to maintain appropriate defence preparedness to thwart any attempt at misadventure by Pakistan.
