(a) whether attention of the Government has been drawn to the newsitem appearing in The Hindustan Times dated November 17, 2001 captioned `IT panel targets $10 billion hardware export by 2008`;
(b) whether the Government have set target for hardware export by 2008;
(c) if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the steps taken by the Government in this direction?

(a),(b) and (c): Yes, Sir. The National Task Force for Information Technology and Software Development set up by the Ministry of Information Technology has set up the export target of US $ 10 Billion by 2008.
(d): The steps taken by the Government to promote the IT industry are given in the Annexure.
