MINISTER OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
(SHRI RAMESH POKHRIYAL ‘NISHANK’)

(a) & (b) : The policy of the Government is to promote all Indian
Languages. Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysore works for
the promotion of all Indian languages including classical languages and there
are separate Institutions for development and promotion of Hindi, Urdu,
Sindhi and Sanskrit languages.

(c) & (d) : As per Unified District Information System for Education
language teachers in Government Secondary Schools are 20.65% of total
teachers which is higher as compared to other subject teachers like
Mathematics, Science & Social Studies. The Central Government issues
advisories to State Governments to fill up vacancies in teaching posts
including those of language teachers, from time to time and for proper
deployment of existing teachers. A Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Financial
Assistance for “Appointment of Language Teachers” was brought in Xth Plan
