Question : Norms on Films

(a): whether the Government is aware that the Central Board of Film Certification(CBFC) has flouted rules/guidelines in issuing censor certificate to films and converted “A” category films into “UA” category during 2012-15 and if so the details thereof;

(b): the number of films whose category changed during the said period;

(c): whether any inquiry was conducted for overlooking the rules in this regard and if so, the details thereof along with the action taken/being taken by the Government against erring officials; and

(d): the measures taken by the Government to check such irregularities in future?

(a): No Madam . Central Board of Film Certification(CBFC) certifies films for public exhibition in accordance with Cinematograph Act,1952, Cinematograph (Certification)Rules, 1983, the amendments carried out from time to time and the guidelines issued thereunder .

(b) The number of films where category of film changed from ‘A’ to ‘V/UA’ during 2012 to 2015 at the time of examination of film in Video format duly following the procedure prescribed in the Cinematograph Act, Cinematograph (Certification)Rules and the guidelines, is as under:
