(a) whether the Government have taken steps for the expansion to Thermal Power Plant at Kaniha in Orissa;
(b) if so, the total MW of power expected to be generated on completion of this project; and
(c) the time by which the project is likely to be completed?

(a) : Yes, Sir.
(b) & (c) : National Thermal Power Corporation is implementing
Stage-II expansion (4x500 MW) of Talcher Super Thermal Power
Project at Kaniha in Orissa. The first unit is scheduled for
commissioning in November, 2003 and the other three units at an
interval of nine months each thereafter.
