Question : Diversion of Coal extracted from Coal Blocks

(a) whether a number of issues pertaining to alleged diversion of coal extracted from coal blocks have been enquired by Inter Ministerial Enquiry Committee;
(b) if so, the number of companies found guilty in this enquiry during the last three years; and

(c) the action taken by the Government in this regard so far?

(a) Yes, Sir. Between 2011 and 2014, six Inter-Ministerial Committees (IMCs) were constituted to, inter alia, investigate extraction of surplus coal and diversion of coal extracted by allottee companies from various coal blocks. IMC for Chotia, Madanpur North and Vijay Central blocks was constituted on 07.03.2011; for Belgaon block on 02.03.2012; for Gare Palma IV/1, Gare Palma-IV/2, Gare Palma-IV/3 and Gare Palma-IV/6 blocks on 13.08.2013; for Baranj-I to IV, Manoradeep and Kiloni blocks on 19.02.2014; for Marki Mangli-I on 17.04.2014 and for Gare Palma IV/5 on 05.05.2014.

(b)&(c) During the last three years i.e. 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21, no Inter-Ministerial Committee was constituted for this purpose.
