(a)to(c): As on date, 2788 number of Khadi Institutions (KIs) are registered with and working under Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), including the KIs located in the rural and backward areas of the country. State-wise list of working Khadi Institutions are placed at Annexure-I. These Institutions have created cumulative employment to 4.97 lakh persons.
KVIC is also implementing Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) scheme, for setting up of new micro-enterprises units and to generate employment opportunities in rural as well as urban areas, including backward areas, of the country through KVIC, State Khadi and Village Industries Boards (KVIBs) and District Industries Centre (DICs), under which financial assistance is provided by the Banks, with subsidy from Government of India. During the period from 2014-15 to 2020-21 (as on 31.01.2021), 374931 micro units (80% in rural areas) have been assisted with margin money of Rs.10036.47 crore. Details of state-wise number of micro units established, margin money subsidy utilized and employment opportunities created under PMEGP through KVIC, including KVIBs and DICs, during the last three years (2017-18 to 2019-20) are placed at Annexure-II.
The registered Khadi Institutions are involved in the promotion of Khadi activities. The units setup under PMEGP belong to Mineral Based Industries (MBI), Forest Based Industries (FBI), Agro Based & Food Processing Industries (ABFPI), Polymer & Chemical Based Industry (PCBI), Handmade Paper & Fibre Industries, Rural Engineering & Bio-Technology Industry (REBTI), Solar Vastra, and Service/Textile/polyvastra Industries.
(d): State-wise number of units assisted through State Khadi and Village Industries Boards (KVIBs) in the country including in the backward and rural areas under PMEGP, margin money distributed and employment generated during the last three years are given at Annexure-III.
