Question : YOGA IN UNIVERSITIES

(a) whether the University Grants Commission has decided to help 10 Universities in setting up Yoga Department;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has a proposal to introduce yoga in all the universities in the country; and

(d) if so, the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (d): Yes, Sir. UGC has at present decided to provide financial assistance, not exceeding Rs. 10.00 lakhs, to each of the 10 Universities to be selected for establishing/ strengthening Yoga departments during the 9th Plan.
