Question : Use of PNG by Industries

(a) whether the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has made it mandatory for several industries to use Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in order to check pollution;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether any industry has violated the said instructions and if so, the details thereof along with the monitoring mechanisms put in place in this regard; and
(d) the number of such industries which have violated the instructions of CPCB along with the action taken thereto for non-compliance?

(a) to (d) Central Pollution Control Board(CPCB) has directed Delhi and NCR States for the switching over of industrial units to Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in Delhi and NCR, where PNG supply is available. About 2600 industrial units have switched over to PNG in Delhi & NCR.

Further, the Task Force on Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) on 24th October 2019 recommended that industries in Delhi, which had not yet shifted to PNG to remain closed during 26th to 30th October 2019. The closure was further extended till 15th November, 2019.
