Question : PETROL AND GAS RESERVES IN HARYANA AND RAJASTHAN



(a) whether the Government have conducted any survey particularly in the deserts of Rajasthan and the adjoining desert area of Haryana to find out the new sources and reserves of petrol and gas during the last three years; and

(b) if so, the results thereof and the location where oil and gas has been found alongwith the estimated quantum thereof?

(a) and (b): In Rajasthan, during the last three years, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) has acquired 1589 Ground Line Kilometre of 2D seismic data. In the same period private and joint venture companies have carried out 3016 Line Kilometre of 2D seismic survey, 14 Square Kilometre of 3D survey and 3385 kilometre of gravity survey in Rajasthan. As a result of exploratory drilling, an estimated gas in-place of about 0.56 Billion Standard Cubic Metre has been discovered by ONGC and Oil India Ltd. during the last three years in Jaisalmer basin of Rajasthan. Further, crude oil has been discovered in Bikner district by a private company with an estimated oil in-place of 1.3 Million Standard Stock Tank Barrel.
No exploration has been done in Haryana, in this period.
