Question : REPAIRING OF DAMAGED AIRPORTS

(a) whether certain airports of the country have been hit by the recent cyclone Hudhud thereby causing extensive damage to them;

(b) if so, the details of such airports along with the estimated damages caused/losses incurred by the airports;

(c) whether the Government has taken any action for the repair of these damaged airports; and

(d) if so, the details thereof along with the time by which repairing of the said airports is likely to be completed?

(a) & (b): Yes, Madam. The Airport (Civil enclave) at Visakhapatnam has been damaged by the recent Hudhud cyclone with an estimated damage of Rs.45 crores.

(c) & (d) : Yes, Madam. All the operations have since been restored by making temporary arrangements. Permanent repair work commenced with PDC in the 2nd week of February, 2015.
