Question : Nomination of Communities

(a) whether it is a fact that during the first, second and third Lok Sabha, members belonging to various communities apart from Anglo-Indian community were nominated in Lok Sabha by the Government;

(b) if so, the details thereof including the rationale behind nominating members from non Anglo-Indian communities; and

(c) the list of members who were nominated by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (c): Article 331 of the Constitution of India states that notwithstanding anything in Article 81, the President may, if he is of opinion that the Anglo Indian community is not adequately represented in the House of the people, nominate not more than two members of that community to the House of the People.
The Name of members nominated from Anglo-Indian community by the President during the first, second and third Lok Sabha is as under:-

(i) Shri Frank Anthony,

(ii) Shri A.E.T. Barrow.
