Question : Funds for Cities

(a) whether it is a fact that about Rs. 800 crore would be up for grabs for cities that compete for the 15best projects in four areas including sustainable mobility, open public spaces, urban governance and organisational innovation in low income settlements and if so, thedetails thereof especially for Maharashtra and Karnataka; and

(b) whether the Government has also announced agrant of Rs. 2 crore assistance for each of 25 cities, including more than half a dozen State capitals forplanned urban expansion and if so, the details thereof?

(a) Financial support of EUR 100 million shall be provided to 12 projects in four areas namely, sustainable mobility, open public spaces, urban e-governance and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and social & organisational innovation for low income settlement under the City Investments to Innovate, Integrate and Sustain (CITIIS) Program of Smart Cities Mission.

(b) The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has launched sub-scheme “Pilot on Formulation of Local Area Plan(LAP) and Town Planning Scheme(TPS)” under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation with the objective of supporting the preparation of LAP and TPS on a pilot basis in States/Cities and build local capacity for undertaking such tasks. An amount of Rs 50 crore would be provided under this sub-scheme i.e. Rs 2 crore per city for identified 25 cities for preparing LAP and TPS. The amount shall be released in three instalments in the ratio of 20%:40%:40% at specified stages. List of cities under the sub-scheme is in Annexure.
