(a) whether the Government has reviewed the performance of the Nuclear Power
Plants in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government has any proposal to set up Nuclear Power Plants
during the Eleventh Plan; and

(a)Yes, Sir.
(b)The performance of nuclear power plants in the country is reviewed periodically by the
Government. The performance, both in terms of operation and safety, has been good and
comparable to performance of nuclear power plants world over.
(c)Yes, Sir.
(d)XI Plan proposals envisage commencement of work on eight indigenous Pressurised Heavy
Water Reactors of 700 MWe each and ten Light Water Reactors of 1000 MWe each and above
based on foreign co-operation.
